Porth Yr Aur self catering accommodation Snowdonia is a charming grade ll listed cottage located in Criccieth, North Wales, built on the site of the original castle treasury, hence its translation – Gate of Gold. The property boasts a beautiful view of Criccieth Castle and is a mere 2-minute walk from both Criccieth beaches. With its central heating and secondary glazing, the cottage offers all the comforts of modern living, while still maintaining its historic character.
The cottage has private parking for 2 cars and an electric vehicle charger available for an initial fee of £30, which covers up to 100kw usage. Any excess over 100kw will be charged at the provider’s electricity charge per kw and will need to be paid post-stay. and works well for multi-generational stays with a ground floor bedroom and bathroom.
Additionally, the cottage is dog-friendly and can accommodate up to 2 dogs.

The outdoor area to the rear of the property is gated to ensure safety, and there is a 8 person picnic bench with patio area and additional seating, along with buckets and spades for guest use stored in the lobster catcher!

A separate studio to the rear of the building with its own small outdoor area and entrance that sleeps 2 can be hired alongside the cottage to increase capacity to 10. Porth Yr Aur self catering accommodation Snowdonia has a living room, dining room (seating 8), snug, kitchen, utility (up 3 steps), king-size bedroom, and shower room on the ground floor. The living room has a large corner sofa and a slate fireplace with an electric stove. There is a latest Sky Glass TV (with Netflix), DVD player, and Xbox-360 with games, making it an ideal place for entertainment. The dining room has a wonderful view of the castle, with a large dining table, desk, sideboard, and electric stove, and guests can use the window seating area to admire the castle. In the snug, there is bench seating together with lots of things to keep families occupied, including a dolls house, Lego, puppets, board games, and jigsaws.
The well-equipped kitchen includes a fridge, dishwasher, double oven, and induction hob with extractor, as well as a kettle, toaster, filter coffee maker, and sandwich toaster. Up three steps is the utility room, where guests can find a washing machine, tumble dryer, freezer, and microwave together with additional storage cupboards. The downstairs shower room has a large shower cubicle with shower tower, vanity sink unit, and toilet. Directly next to the shower room (not en-suite) is the largest king-size bedroom, with a wardrobe, chest of drawers, dressing table with hairdryer, and a full-length mirror.
The stairs leading to the first floor can be reached through the dining room, where guests can find three further bedrooms and a bathroom. The bathroom has a bath with a shower, sink with storage cupboard, toilet, and towel rail radiator. The double bedroom has two windows, both with sea views, and a large wardrobe area, chest of drawers, hairdryer, and full-length mirror. The bunk bedroom has a wardrobe, large chest of drawers, dressing table, and full-length mirror, while the second double bedroom has a chest of drawers, hanging rail with shelf, and full-length mirror. Baby/toddler equipment is available, including a travel cot, stair gate, baby monitor, baby bath, and highchair (please bring your bedding for the cot). There are also two dog crates for guest use, a water bowl, and two food bowls. Additionally, there is a hoover, steam mop, iron, and ironing board.
