Terms & Conditions

General

No parties or events are accepted unless prior approval is given – the maximum number of persons using the accommodation at any time must not exceed 8 people for the Main House Porth yr Aur, 2 for the Studio and only the number detailed on the booking form can occupy the property. We reserve the right to terminate the booking without notice and without refund in case of a breach of this condition.

All bookings require the completion of our customer registration form which will be sent by email after booking.

Strictly no smoking or e-cigarettes in the house or garden.

Families and couples only. No same sex stag or hen parties.

Dogs- there is an additional £30 charge for up to 2 dogs for non direct booking.

EV charger- subject to £30 charge. Any additional usage will be payable post stay.

Bookings cannot be accepted from persons under eighteen years of age.

We or our representatives reserve the right to enter the property at any time to undertake essential maintenance or for inspection purposes – we will agree this with you if required (e.g. water leak, electricity problem).

Please make sure you switch off lights, heating or any electrical appliances when you go out – we’re eco-friendly.

The owner shall not be liable for any temporary defect or malfunction of any equipment, machinery or appliance in the building, grounds.

No compensation will be given for any temporary outage of electricity, water, internet connection or television service.

Payment Policy (for direct bookings only)

To secure your booking, a non-refundable deposit of 33% of the total cost of your stay is required. You may also choose to pay the full balance at the time of booking.

Full payment is required at the time of booking if your stay is less than 42 days away (or if you’re using a gift voucher).

The remaining balance must be paid in full 42 days before your stay. You will receive an email with a payment link a few days before the balance is due.

If the balance is not paid by the due date, we reserve the right to re-let the accommodation and retain the deposit.

Bookings are made securely online and we accept most major debit/credit cards through our online booking system.

Cancellation (please refer to Covid cancellation below)

We strongly advise that you take out comprehensive travel insurance to cover cancellations. If you choose not to, then you accept responsibility for any loss that you may incur due to your cancellation. Please note that this also applies to canclations due to adverse weather conditions.

In the event of no-shows, we do not offer any (either full or partial) refund.

Should you cancel your stay more than 42 days before the day of check-in, we will retain the booking deposit (or 35% of the total of your stay if you’ve already paid in full). If we can re-book your accommodation, then your deposit will be refunded, minus a £50 administration fee. Any deposit less than £50 will not be refunded.

Should you cancel your stay within 42 days of the start date, the balance of your payment remains payable.

All cancellation requests must be received in writing (Emailed) to ourselves.

In the event of cancellation of your booking by us – for any on-site health and safety or quality-related issue (such as disruption to water supply) – you are entitled to a full refund of the money you have paid. You may also opt to change your booking to another date, subject to availability. Any additional cost relating to a change of dates would be payable.

Any liability arising from the cancellation of your stay by us, for whatever reason, is strictly limited to the total sum paid to us by you.

Covid 19

In recognition that this business has confirmed that they have followed government and industry COVID-19 guidelines, ensuring processes are in place to maintain cleanliness and aid social/physical distancing.

Porth Yr Aur Covid-19 cancellation policy
If Covid-19 government restrictions require Porth Yr Aur to close, or you are in a tiered area that the government has not allowed to travel to us, you are entitled to transfer to alternative dates.
To take the option to change your dates for later in the year or up to a year from your arrival date, for the following reasons,

If we need to cancel your holiday due to a national lockdown.
Local restrictions including local lockdowns preventing travel are in place affecting your booking postcode
Local restrictions including local lockdowns preventing travel are in place in our postcode preventing you from travelling to us.

Please email us with any queries regarding your booking at info@porthyraur.com with your booking dates the reason why you cannot travel and if you would like to move your dates to alternative 2022/2023 dates.

Please note that if you have changed your mind, and no longer wish to come on holiday in 2022, or if you are concerned about a future dated holiday, you are welcome to change your dates if 42 days before due arrival date; unfortunately unless a national or local lockdown have been confirmed by the Government on dates that impact your holiday, we cannot refund your holiday.

Deposits are non-refundable. If you do change your mind and cannot come on your planned holiday, please inform us as soon as possible and we will try to re-book the dates and will hopefully be able to refund the remaining balance minus a £50 administration fee if the same dates can be rebooked. Deposits are non-refundable, but we will endeavour to transfer dates if at all possible and with enough prior notice given.

Porth Yr Aur would request that, in line with government Covid-19 advice we have implemented:

For health and safety reasons, Please follow social distance guidelines and all close contact restrictions as per any newly issued guidelines as requested by the Welsh Government. Any fines liable for breaches will be passed on and contact details shared with government agencies to ensure we comply with official requests.

Booking Date amendments

If your stay is more than 42 days away, we will allow you to move your booking to an alternative date without any charge, subject to availability. Any additional cost relating to a change of dates would be payable.

We cannot move booking dates within 42 days of the start of your stay.

Travel Insurance

We strongly recommend that you take out UK travel insurance when you make your booking.

We recommend additional cancellation insurance to cover you in the event of cancellations such as illness, inclement weather, etc.

Cleaning and Equipment

We kindly ask that accommodation is left as clean and tidy as when you found it. Cleaning products are provided for your use. This includes the hob, microwave, sink area, crockery, cutlery, pans, utensils and shower room. Bins should be emptied and sorted into the recycling bins before your departure. We reserve the right to make a charge to cover additional cleaning costs if guests leaves the property in an unacceptable condition.

Guests should not remove any item from the property.

Damages and breakages – please treat the facilities and accommodation with due care so that other guests may continue to enjoy them. If you notice something is missing or damaged in your accommodation, please let us know immediately so that we can take the appropriate action. If there has been any damage or breakages during your stay, we would be grateful if you could report them promptly, especially before check-out. We are very understanding if incidentals occur – (for instance a broken glass) and would not charge as we know accidents can happen. All we ask is that you inform us as soon as possible so that we can ensure everything is back up to standards for all our guests to enjoy. The accommodation will be inspected at the end of the holiday and you may be charged for any loss or damage.

Strictly no smoking or e-cigarettes in the house or garden, please do not use BBQs or any type of fire pit on the premises. As a grade II listed property in a conservation area fire safety is paramount. Any damage by smoke or fire relating to your stay will be reported and we will terminate the duration of your stay.

Parking

A maximum of 2 vehicles are allowed in the garden parked nose to tail unless agreed beforehand.

EV Charger usage and costs

Please note if you wish to use the electric vehicle charger there is an initial charge of £30 (to be paid direct just before stay to access security) which covers up to 100kw usage. Any excess over 100kw will be charged as per our providers electricity charge per kw and will need to be paid post stay.

Smoking

There is absolutely no smoking (including e-cigarettes) permitted either in the house, or in the annex or garden areas. Smoking is strictly prohibited.

Dogs

  • Up to 2 dogs are allowed at one time
  • For non direct bookings there is a dog charge of £30 to be paid prior to your stay.
  • Please don’t let pets onto the furniture, especially sofas and beds
  • No dogs upstairs
  • Guests are responsible for cleaning up after their pets
  • Please do not leave dogs unattended in the property unless crated.

Arrival / Departure Policy

We will contact all guests prior to arrival and there is also an information book in the property. If you have any queries during your stay you can contact us on 07790 758807 or email us at info@porthyraur.com.

Check-in is from 4pm. We ask that guests don’t arrive early so we have time to prepare. Please contact us if you require a late check in (after 10pm) so we can ensure there is no problems accessing the property.

Check out is up to 10.00 am. Leave your keys inside the lock box. We ask that guests check out by 10.00 am so that we are able to clean the house for the next guests. Late checkout may will occur additional charges if not arranged in advance.

Code of Conduct

We expect all our guests to respect and look after the house. We also ask you to respect our neighbours and keep noise levels to a minimum after 10pm.

Parents are responsible for their children, and children must be supervised at all times.

We take our Health and Safety responsibilities very seriously and ask visitors to respect our house rules.

Liability

We accept no responsibility for any loss or damage that may occur to your car or associated property whilst in our house, except where such loss or damage has arisen as a result of our negligence or a breach of our duty to you.

If you have an accident during your stay this must be reported to ourselves to complete an accident report under health and safety requirements.

Security deposits, damage, loss, theft

Guests agree to inform the owners of any damage or loss however caused, excluding reasonable wear and tear incurred during occupation. Guests should not remove any item from the property. The owner may ask for reasonable replacement costs. We do not take a security deposit and rely on guests to respect the house and equipment – we understand that accidental breakages happen – please inform us before you leave.

Complaints and Compliments

If you have a problem with your accommodation during your stay please advise us as we would like the opportunity to resolve it as soon as possible – contact 07790 758807. Please let us know of any damage, breakages or maintenance issues that you come across.

We take all comments from our guests seriously and in the unlikely event that you wish to make a complaint you can contact us by phone or email and we will respond. We will try to resolve any issues as soon as possible.

COTTAGE RULES

MOST OF THESE RULES ARE COMMON SENSE SO APOLOGIES IF THEY MAY SEEM A LITTLE PATRONISING!

  1. Enjoy your holiday, have fun and relax!!!
  2. Please respect our neighbours and the local area. We are very lucky to have some lovely neighbours please respect them by keeping noise to a minimum especially later in the evening and early in the morning.
  3. Criccieth is a beautiful place to be please look after it, bring your rubbish home!
  4. No smoking, lighting candles or bbqs.
  5. Breakages- accidents happen! We would rather you tell us about any breakages so that we can ensure items are replaced for the next visitors.
  6. Dogs- we would prefer dogs not to be left unattended. If they ae left and any damage is caused as per our terms and conditions, we reserve the right to charge for such damage accordingly. Dogs are not allowed upstairs and if on furniture please protect it with your own blankets. Please ensure the garden is kept free from dog mess and we would really appreciate it if you could put your dog waste in the local public bins when out and about as our bins are only emptied once every three weeks.
  7. Please use coasters and placemats for food and drink (placemats for dining room are on bookcase).
  8. Please help us conserve energy by turning off lights etc when not needed.
  9. Windows- windows do open (apart from on the landing). Please take great care they are very old windows. The secondary glazing will need to be opened first. Please ensure downstairs windows remain shut when not in the property.
  10. On departure, please ensure that the cottage is left as you would wish to find it as far as possible. Please empty bins and strip any used bed linen and places in bags provided (or put by
